Scott How has been playing guitar for more than ¾ of his life, and has over 20 years teaching experience. He currently teaches classical, acoustic, and electric guitar at the Alumni Music Conservatory. Scott has a unique teaching philosophy, which integrates contemporary popular music as a framework for the development of foundational musical skills and knowledge. Scott earned a Bachelor of Music with a specialty in classical guitar performance at the University of Calgary (2003). He has studied and performed in a broad range of musical styles, including rock, funk, jazz, celtic, and country music. He played and toured for several years with Calgary funk band Urban Divide, performing at Calgary's Lilac Fest, Folk Fest, and Stampede as well Edmonton's Klondike Days. Recently, Scott has developed an annual concert series as a charity fundraiser, and he remains involved in live performances with diverse musical groups. Scott enjoys teaching all styles of guitar and all types of music, to students with skills ranging from beginner to expert.
